A Blues Award is presented to a student who has achieved outstanding success in cultural activities (equivalent to regional placing in a competition).

 

In order to gain a Blue, a student must fulfill the following criteria:

 

Cultural Blue

  • Has represented Mahurangi College in the arts field, or¬† Has been recognised for their achievements in an arts field activity not provided by Mahurangi College.
  • Has performed outstandingly well in their artistic field (equivalent to:¬† regional/national recognition.
  • Has contributed wherever and whenever possible their talents at Mahurangi College (ie. musicians perform at assemblies/talent quests etc)
  • Has displayed an outstanding attitude.¬† Has remained highly motivated and led by example.

    Service to Culture Award

     

    A student may win a Service to Culture Blue or Merit Award for their services to culture ie. backstage, darkroom technician, stage lighting.

     

    Certificate of Merit

     

    This award is to give recognition to those students who come very close to achieving a Blues Award. Motivation and excellence have to be evident to achieve this award.

     

    (All Cultural Awards are to be decided by the Cultural Awards committee.  Where an impasse is reached, the Principal has the casting vote).
