Girls Basketball Zone Day
The Mahurangi girls acquitted themselves well at the recent year 7/8 basketball zone day held at the Northshore Events Centre. A win against Belmont Intermediate and a draw against Northcote Intermediate and a loss against Murray’s Bay Intermediate saw them finish second in their pool and qualify for the top 8 finals. Two further losses to Wairau Intermediate and Albany Junior High School saw them meet Orewa College in the playoff for 7/8th. Battling back from a slow start they finished the half tied at 8 all. Orewa again pulled away forcing the Mahu girls to play catchup. They were desperately unlucky to finish one point behind at 14 to 15, finishing 8th of the 16 teams present.
