Sam Cadwallader sets his sights on Coastal Challenge Title!

Sam Cadwallader entered the Coastal Challenge with a goal to cross the finish line and know that he had done his best.
His preparation leading up to the Tawharanui event, was the Te Hana Road race, which saw him take out the title of overall winner. He also set a new school record in our school cross country event in the intermediate boys section and then went on to the North Harbour cross country event, which saw him finish 2nd in the intermediate boys.
He has also been doing his own personal training over the last year, along with his speciality race of 800m through the North Harbour Bays Athletic club, which he is a member.
This saw him decide to enter and take on the 14 km Tawharanui leg of the Coastal Challenge. He knew mentally, this was going to be challenging, but had a real will to succeed. The race was from Jones Bay to Omaha, over rugged terrain and obstacles and the Coastal Challenge usually attracts athletes from all over New Zealand. Sam ran with sheer determination and finished the 14km division in first place! His next race that he is planning is the up and coming Auckland secondary schools cross country championships being held in June, as well as aiming to make the team for Road Relay Nationals in Christchurch later on in the year.
Congratulations Sam, what an amazing acheivement so far.
