Sports and Physical Recreation Co-ordinator
Sports Co-ordinator – Part Time
Hours of work: 25 hours per week.
Remuneration: NZEI Support Staff, Grade B Step 7 $18.98 per hour
Responsible To:
- Principal
- Sports Director
- HOF Physical Education.
Functional Relationships with:
- Principal
- HOF Health and Physical Education
- Sport Director
- Sports Coaches
- Sports Prefects
- Other Schools
- Community Sports Organisation including Regional Sports Organisations Parents and wider school community
The sport and physical recreation programme aims include:
- student self-development
- enhancing the profile of sport and physical recreation at the school, within the school and the community
- increasing participation in sport and physical recreation
- increasing the quality of student participation in sport and physical recreation
- assisting students in gaining enjoyment from sport and physical recreation
- delivering sport and physical recreation safely to students
- catering for the different needs of all students
- Increasing the quality of coaching and sporting opportunites
The Key Objectives of the Position
- To provide leadership for the school’s Yr 7/8 sport and recreational programme in the following areas of responsibility.
- Leadership
- Administration
- Communication
- Participation – including have a go sessions.
- Professional Support and Training
- Community Involvement
- Marketing and Promotion
- Resource Management.
- Zone days promotion
- Work with Sports prefects running Lunchtime sport /recreational programme.
The Position also includes:
- requires a high level of skills of a variety of sets, detailed knowledge of sports education and young people and proven experience in sports administration and marketing
- will require close relationships and strategic alliances with a variety of community personnel and groups.
- Close working relationship with other staff particularly yr 7/8 staff, sport and PE staff.
- The appointee to assist with secondary sport as required
- Requires the appointee to contribute to extra curricular sporting activities such as coaching and managing teams.
- Maintenance of the college sporting web pages.
- Other tasks as directed by the Sports Director and Senior Sports co-ordinator.
