Student Learning Centre

Mai i te Kōpae ki te Urupa, tātou ako tonu ai.

From the cradle to the grave we are forever learning.

The Student Learning Centre offers individualised programmes to meet the needs of students who are identified and supported by ORS funding.

The centre is staffed by teachers with qualifications and experience in special education and teacher aides. Specialist support is provided by a speech language therapist, occupational  therapist and physio therapist, when requested.

Mahurangi College has a policy of inclusion and students are supported to access their learning both in the regular classroom alongside their peers and in the Student Learning Centre.  

Programmes of work are developed in consultation with the student, whanau,  specialist providers and teaching staff. Individualised programmes will include development of skills to enable students to become as independent as possible alongside academic learning goals.

The Student Learning Centre is an integral part of the school. The wider teaching staff and student body are welcoming and supportive of our young people, enabling them to grow socially, emotionally and cognitively.
