The boys have started the season in commanding fashion with two comprehensive wins to date.  First up the side travelled to Whangarei to play Kamo High School in a, National, Gillette Cup qualifier.  An excellent spell of fielding and bowling restricted Kamo to only 100 in their 20 overs.  Findlay Buchanan was in fine form taking 3 wickets for 2 runs off 2 overs.  Mahurangi knocked off the required runs without loss with Jordan Kose 49 n.o. & Zac Wyatt 33 n.o. doing the job inside 15 overs.  The next round will see the side head off the Hamilton to meet the top Waikato qualifiers.
The next match saw the boys head to Ruawai in  the opening round of the lower Northland school's, Wyatt Cup.  Mahurangi opened with a batting blitz that saw them amass 374 from their 30 overs.  Both Jordan Kose and Zac Wyatt made centuries before retiring not out.  Cory Riggall 48, Jordan Riggall 34 and Shane Dawson 45 n.o. all scored better than two runs a ball.  Alec McNaught turned the match into a rout, taking 7 wickets for 11 runs from his 4 overs.  Patrick Fay and Joseph Banks mopped up the tail with two wickets and one wicket respectively - to have Ruawai all out for a paltry 41.
