Senior Boys and Girls Touch Teams fundraising for December National Tournament

The senior boys and girls touch teams are now in training for the Touch Nationals to be held in Palmerston North in early December. Both teams had to qualify by finishing as the top two teams in the North Harbour Secondary Schools competition then going to a Regional Competition involving schools from Northland, North Harbour and West Auckland.

At the Regional competition both teams finished second with the top 3 teams qualifying. This is the first year we have had a senior boys team and senior girls team qualify. The previous best has been a senior girls team and a mixed team in 2008. This years teams continue the proud tradition Mahurangi College has established in Touch.

We would like to thank the Pub Charity for assisting with transport and accommodation costs for both teams. The boys team have one more fundraising effort to go. On the 20th November people have the opportunity to take a cruise on the Mahurangi River on the historic scow the Jane Gifford. The trip includes delicious finger food, a complimentary drink and a commentary about the interesting history surrounding the Jane Gifford. The tickets are $30 per person and would be ideal for individuals and groups who would like to experience a piece of Warkworth's history. Contact Bill Husband at the college for tickets.
