Over the last week the Y7 & Y8's have had a mulittude of teams and individual athletes competing at various North Harbour and Auckland Champ zone days.
Netball saw all 6 of our girls teams and one boys team compete at tournaments over two different days. Our top Y7 team placed the best amongst the group, finishing a credible 5th overall, boding well for development of Netball into Y8. Although the other teams did not feature in the top 10, they all had a great day and a new found appreciation for the physical demand tournament style games requires.
Cross Country followed with yet again a strong contingent of Y7 runners. We filled a bus with 26 excited athletes who all nervously prepared for their challenging race at an outstanding course at Paremoremo. The athletes had to tackle a "big muma" hill not once, but twice which certainly sorted the endurance runners from the rest of the pack. Congratulations to our best place getters: Maia Collins-Bowman 7th Y7 Girls; Leah Jones 15th Y8 Girls; Patrick Mackinnon 18th Y8 Boys. Maia will go on to compete at the Auckland Champs later this year. All the best Maia!
Our Hockey Boys continued their seasons success at the recent Auckland Champs inter zone tournament. Advancing to the semi finals unbeaten they came up against a strong St Peters team who converted early and then held onto their lead. Despite a late goal from Jordon Thomas it wasn't enough for our boys to promote into the final, eventually finishing the day a very credible 3rd place overall. Congratulations boys. You are making good progress towards the AIMS games tournament.
