Mid Winter Basketball Report

Mid Winter Basketball Report.
Mahurangi has six basketball teams in action this year. The boys under 15’s, 17’s and 19’s play in the North Harbour competition at the North Shore Events Centre and are heading to the climax of the season. Both the under 15’s and 17’s are in playoff contention in their respective leagues; only time will tell whether they can secure a few more wins to make the semi finals.
In the junior school there are three teams playing in the year 7/8 Hibiscus Coast completion at the Whangaparaoa Leisure Centre at Stanmore Bay. Two of the three teams made the finals of the term two competition, played on Monday 29th June. The Mahurangi College Flyers won their contest, for top spot, against the Orewa College Jordans, 23 - 21 in an overtime thriller. The following game saw Mahurangi College Gunners just get piped, by a couple of buckets, by the SGH Strikers to finish second in their league. All three teams will continue for the term three module.
