April 25th, 2016 saw hundreds gather at the Warkworth memorial in clear calm conditions, to remember those who have served and died in the service of their country. Many of our young people joined the many returned servicemen and those still on active duty to listen in the silence of the early morning. They heard of those who were still serving their country in many zones of conflict around the world. They heard about one young man from Warkworth who served and died at Gallipoli, with crosses nearby remembering all those other local young men who died in World War 1 and II. Wreathes were laid, including one from the college. As the last post sounded out over Warkworth, those who were there remembered them, they that would not grow old, and were reminded what the peace we live in cost, not only the cost to those who died, but also the cost of what those who returned had to endure, both mental and physical.

Well done to those many Mahurangi students who attended the services and those who contributed their thoughts at the Morning Service. It was reported that "Both Nathan Dick and Sarah Wilson spoke beautifully. They were a credit to the school and to Warkworth."
