A crowd of more than a 1000 turned out to remember those locals and others who have fallen in war over the last 100 years. On this special day, 100 years since the Gallipoli landing on April 25th 1915, those who gathered were lead by a parade of ex and present service personnel in a service of remembrance.

The crowd, made up of very young to elderly stood quietly, thinking of those young men and women who served their country valiantly in those far away lands. Led with prayers and stories, Attendees proudly sang the National Anthems of New Zealand and Australia and the poignant Hymn, Abide With Me.

The Service finished with the laying of wreaths by representatives of the services and local areas folowed by the palying of the haunting Last Post. I am sure the fallen would have been proud to have seen all who stood in silent remembrance of their sacrifice as dawn broke over the slopes of Warkworth

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
