The year 13 PE and Outdoor education classes took on the challenge of the military arts camp at Matakana Country Park. This is part of their course requirements and is a gruelling route through rough terrain.

It gives them a benchmark to work on for their tough guy tough girl challenge in July. They have to work as a team, displaying leadership and support for each other to ensure that everyone gets under electric fences, over walls and bars and through lakes safely. They also have the added challenge of a 10KG friend called “Jerry” who cannot touch the floor!

All the teams were highly successful with the fastest team only being nine minutes behind the military’s time when they attended. The students are all proud of themselves for sticking at it and many are keen to give it another shot in the Matakana X run in July.
