The Year 7 & 8 Boys Cricket Zone Day was a brilliant showcase of Sportsmanship and some awesome cricket skills were unleased last week, when our two teams travelled away to Orewa!

The Year 7 Boys Team, who were coached by Mike Harrison and Captained by Zinny Harrison, played some brilliant cricket, however they were unable to land a win from both their games against Orewa Y7 boys and the Y8 boys team. The first game score was 72-74 and the second game 92-62. However, that didn't stop our boys showing wonderful sportsmanship on and off the cricket pitch and some brilliant fielding and batting skills.

The player of the day for the first game was Zinny and the second game was Findlay! Our Year 8 Boys Team, who was coached by Mr Cooper and Captained by Cole Jakicevich-Roberts, totally smashed the cricket ball out of the park with both their games! The first game was won 59-60 against Orewa Y8 boys team and we had to call the second game off, due to needing to get home for our students to catch buses, but we think the score was around 150 odd runs to us - and the Y7 Boys Orewa Team were nowhere near at being able to catch us! However Cole and Jackson did retire after Cole's 50 run innings and the players of the day was Cole and Jackson Gradwell.

Congratulations to you all - the Black Caps would have been very proud of you boys - I know Mr Cooper and Mr Harrison were proud! Thank you to all our parents who came down to support the boys and to everyone who helped umpire and score! It really was a superb day!
