<p>They were placed fourth in their pool and by doing so qualified for the championship round. Ultimately the team finished fifth out of seventeen teams in the Senior B competition. This was an excellent effort considering they were playing against the first X1 of a number of schools. The team’s composition was a mixture of seasoned veteran Year 13 players including Pia Schuster (Captain) Ella Harnish, Megan Thomson, Lottie Thompson and Elizabeth Murphy. Some enthusiastic Year 11’s and a smattering of middle school and junior school players made up the remainder. The other distinguishing feature of the team’s make up was its international flair. Juciara added a Brazilian touch whilst Lena, Kathi and Klara added a strong German flavour to the line up.</p>
<p>The highlight of the season had to be the win against Kingsway in their last game. Playing at home in wet conditions the team went ahead 1 - 0 before Kingsway put away a lucky goal. With time almost up a handball in the penalty area resulted in Heather Pearson firing a low shot to the right of the Kingsway keeper and into the net for a well deserved victory. Whilst the Year 13 contingent will be sadly missed next year, there is a solid core of girls coming through who will provide the experience and willingness to once again take on North Harbour’s best 2nd X1 teams. The team would like to thank Ian Holt and the Bridgehouse Tavern for Sponsoring their player of the day awards.</p>
