    Prerequisites:
    A minimum of 12 credits in Level 2 Health or by negotiation with the Head of Faculty. Competent literacy ability.
    Learning Strategies:
    Research, report writing, guest speakers, self reflection, understanding the underlying health concepts of hauora (well-being), attitudes and values, socio-ecological perspectives and health promotion.
    Main Areas of Study:
    Level 3 Health is an academic subject that examines health related practices and issues both within New Zealand and overseas. The first internal involves analysing a New Zealand health issue (drugs and alcohol, mental health or child poverty). The next internal involves an investigation of a health practice (cancer treatment, birth pain management or depression treatment). In the final internal, students will examine an ethical issue (abortion or euthanasia). There is student choice on each internal assessment topic. The external exam analyses an international health issue (poverty: sexual health, life expectancy and disease.
