    L3GEO L3 Geography 18 credits Yr: 13
    4 credits externally assessed and 14 credits internally assessed achievement standards. Scholarship geography is also an option. This is a university approved subject.
    Costs:
    Approximately $120 for field trips to the Omaha and an overnight trip to Muriwai to investigate the operation and interaction of different coastal processes.
    Prerequisites:
    Achievement in three Level 2 Geography standards including one external standard or twelve literacy credits at Level 2 including achievement in externally assessed English standards or TIC and Head of Faculty approval.
    Learning Strategies:
    Students will learn through independent research, collaboration, thinking and decision making and by exploring current geographic issues and global topics. Students will be encouraged to develop their knowledge, argue opinions and communicate effectively. This course is also enhanced by geographic research in two coastal environments as field trips.
    Main Areas of Study:
    Key topics are: natural processes shaping a coastal environment, a focus on the planning and environmental impacts of the 'Rhythm and Vines Music Festival' in New Zealand, a global topic such as tropical coral reefs or Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) and a contemporary geographic issue such as ocean plastic.
