    L3DES L3 Art Design 22 credits Yr: 13
    14 credits externally assessed and 8 credits internally assessed. This is a university approved subject.
    Costs:
    $70 course costs includes folio boards, courier for folio boards to Wellington, colour printing, specialist art materials.
    Prerequisites:
    Students must have completed a visual art course and passed the major external folio standard - or gain Head of Faculty approval.
    Learning Strategies:
    This course immerses students in a variety of design skills and creative processes, with a focus on digital illustration, graphic design, and visual communication. Students develop a self-selected theme and work through the design process of concepts, developments, and final outcomes, creating original design solutions that respond to contemporary ideas and issues. Using Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, students build practical design skills while developing creativity, critical thinking, and visual communication. Building on the foundations established in Years 7–10, the course encourages experimentation, individual style, and creative confidence, while preparing students for further study and opportunities within the creative industries.
    Main Areas of Study:
    Students will learn how to generate and develop independent creativity and building skills, which are transferable to other disciplines across the arts and other subject disciplines. Students will learn how to develop company branding and identity, making interactive design for branding and promotional material.
