    L3 externally assessed unit standards with a 'Health and Safety' and 'Site Safe' focus. This is not a university approved subject.

    Prerequisites:
    Students who have studied any of the following are welcome to apply for this course: Level 2 Design Technology, Level 2 Creative Technology, Level 2 Science, Level 2 Construction Academy. Students who have studied other subjects will need to consult with the Programme Manager of Careers and Transition Pathways.
    It is expected that you will have an electronic device to access some of the course content.

    Note:
    You are required to wear safety boots each time you are in the construction workshop. These will be provided by Bayleys Matakana and ITM Warkworth. All other PPE will also be provided.
    Learning Strategies:
    Learning will take place through individual theory study, practical group work, assignments and tests.
    Main Areas of Study:
    This double period course is designed to develop and encourage excellence in aspects of building construction, particularly leadership and problem solving skills. A wide variety of building skills will be covered to enable a student to enter an apprenticeship in the construction industry. Possible individual projects for this course could be large outdoor furniture and group work will be addressed through a community construction project in the school environment.
