A scientific calculator is essential. |
Prerequisites: |
---|
5 credits at merit level in the level 1 'Energy' externally assessed standard or with Head of Faculty approval. |
Learning Strategies: |
---|
In Level 2 Physics, students benefit from using real-world examples to connect concepts like motion, electricity, and waves to everyday experiences. Learning strategies include breaking problems into smaller steps, practising calculations regularly, and using visual tools like graphs and circuit diagrams. Group work, class discussions, and hands-on experiments help reinforce understanding. Revising with past papers and actively reviewing feedback will support exam preparation and improve problem-solving skills. |
Main Areas of Study: |
---|
This Level 2 Physics course explores key physical principles through both theoretical and practical learning. Students will investigate motion, forces, and energy in mechanics, electrical circuits and current flow, and the behaviour of waves including sound and light. Internally, students will study atomic and nuclear physics, including radiation and nuclear reactions. The course builds problem-solving and analytical skills, preparing students for further study in physics, engineering, and related sciences.
