    Nil. Possible trip to the Devonport Naval museum
    Prerequisites:
    Achieved in one of the writing assessments, or from Level 1 English or Head of Faculty approval.
    Learning Strategies:
    There will be an increased emphasis on: the examination of resources, the writing of descriptive and analytical essays and an extension of the independent research gathering. Discussions and debates will enable students to comprehensively examine the main causes and consequences of the events studied.
    Main Areas of Study:
    The theme for Year 12 History is 'Beliefs and Ideology'. Students will investigate the events of WW2 and its aftermath, especially the creation of the nuclear bomb before, focusing on the period known as 'The Cold War. We will examine events such as the Berlin Blockade, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the war in Vietnam. Students will also look at why NZ went to war in Vietnam and the experiences of the soldiers and those at home in NZ. There will also be time to look at NZ's stance to nuclear power.
