    L1SC1 L1 Science 10 credits Yr: 11
    Students will complete two standards, one being internally assessed and one externally assessed.
    Costs:
    $10 for a student booklets
    Prerequisites:
    All Year 11 students taking Science need to select this subject. There are two streams of Level 1 Science. Students will be placed in the course that best meets their academic needs through consultation with the Head of Faculty, their previous teachers and the Head of Year.
    Learning Strategies:
    Students will use a variety of strategies, including individual work, group work, practical activities and field trips. Students will be able to apply their understandings to everyday contexts.
    Main Areas of Study:
    L1 Science builds upon the foundational knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

    Students will explore how living things interact with their environment, including how organisms change over time. They will also discover how all substances are made of atoms and it is the interactions of different types of atoms that lead to different chemical and physical properties. Students will explore the transfer of energy and the impact it has on motion.

    Students will begin to understand that scientists make observations, generate and test ideas by gathering data to understand, explain and develop knowledge about the natural world.
