Prerequisites: | ||||
Discussion with teacher/Head of Faculty NOTE: This subject does not allow students to progress on to Level 2 Chemistry, Physics or Biology. There is a Level 2 Science course which this could lead into. |
||||
Learning Strategies: | ||||
Students will use a variety of strategies, including individual work, group work, practical activities and field trips. Students will be able to apply their understandings to everyday contexts. If you are planning to go to university to study science or health professions, this is not an appropriate subject. | ||||
Main Areas of Study: | ||||
L1 Applied Science builds upon the foundational knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students will explore how living things interact with their environment, including how organisms change over time. They will also discover how all substances are made of atoms and it is the interactions of different types of atoms that lead to different chemical and physical properties. Students will explore the transfer of energy and the impact it has on motion. Students will begin to understand that scientists make observations, generate and test ideas by gathering data to understand, explain and develop knowledge about the natural world. |
