    L3MUS L3 Music 20 credits Yr: 13
    4 credits externally assessed and 16 credits internally assessed. This is a university approved subject.
    Costs:
    Performance lessons are a required part of the course and may incur costs. Student workbook $25 for admin.
    Prerequisites:
    Achievement in year 12 music or equivalent - 5th year on a music instrument (voice is an instrument) with HOD Music approval.
    Learning Strategies:
    Individual and group performance skills developed in conjunction with private music tutors. Where possible, students will receive free instrument tuition. This is a differentiated course tailored to the student, it can include performance, arrangement, harmonic and tonal convention, external analysis of a set work and composition, or songwriting.
    Main Areas of Study:
    Students may choose to:
    • Create compositions OR write songs, using secure technical and musical skills and technologies to express imaginative thinking.
    • Create arrangements of music - reworking or adapting existing musical material for an ensemble.
    • Present performance programmes of music, individually and collaboratively, demonstrating interpretative understandings • Analyze significant expressive features and stylistic conventions and technologies in a range of music, using practical and theoretical knowledge.
    • Perform two pieces on a second instrument (optional).
